The plaza originally contained an Ames, Rite-Aid, Kroger and Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts with a First Federal Bank as an out parcel.
Rite-Aid was the first to close (early 1990's), followed by Kroger (after a new store had been built on Bancroft St.). Ames closed around March 17 during one of the first rounds of store closings.
After Ames had left, Jo-Anns was the only tenant left, and managed to do fairly well (Mom was manager). A flea-market had operated in the former Ames and a softball team practiced in the old Rite-Aid store.
Plans for the shopping center included a Farmer Jack and small Wal-Mart (in former Ames space). However, after Farmer Jack closed many of their Toledo stores, New Plan Realty sold the plaza to Wal-Mart.
Jo-Ann's was the final tenant. Liquidation began in January and closed March 6, one year after Ames closed.
The building sat empty for about one year before being destroyed for a Wal-Mart, which is now a super center.
